Happy Thanksgiving to my fellow Canadians and Happy Monday to everyone else :) I hope you guys had a wonderful weekend. Busy October continued for us as it was the boys’ Tough Mudder weekend!
The weekend started off with a Tough Mudder team meeting on Friday night and carb loading at BJ’s; naturally, I got my favourite gluten-free pizza: Buffalo Chicken.
Saturday started way too early… the alarm went off at 5:30 and I didn’t even recognize it. My running friends showed up at 6am also to accompany me on my early 8 mile run. I knew if I skipped it on Saturday, I wouldn’t wake up and do it on Sunday, especially since it was going to be a chilly day. I was so glad they came and held me accountable :) I got home and showered, and got ready to go. 8:45 was our departure time even though the boys weren’t starting until 11:45. It took us over an hour to get to the parking lot, and then the boys registered, and one of the boy’s friends’ girlfriend and I went to sign up as spectators. We only waited for a little bit before they called their 11:45 group so we took some photos.
The Austin Tough Mudder was 12 miles long with 22 obstacles. We were only able to see a few of the obstacles, and took some photos. There is a list of obstacles and their descriptions available on the Tough Mudder website; not all of the obstacles listed there were on this course, and some obstacles on this course weren’t listed.
They’re already talking about doing it next year! Will I do it? I don’t think so… it’s just not my cup of tea.. maybe I’ll do the Warrior Dash 5K one day.
By the time we got home, it was almost 6pm, and we were exhaustedddd. We stayed up until 10pm, and then passed out. On Sunday morning, I made my tough mudder a big waffle for breakfast, and in the evening we went with his friend and girlfriend out to Fleming’s Prime Steakhouse for dinner. We started out with the carpaccio, a salad, then 3/4 of us had a special with filet mignon, barbecued shrimp, and Fleming’s Potatoes, we also had a little bit of garlic mashed potatoes, and asparagus. The boy and I shared a creme brûlée. Needless to say, we were STUFFED, but every bite was amazing.
All in all, it was a fantastic weekend!
Have you ever done a Tough Mudder or any other obstacle race involving mud? Do you want to?
