WIAW #36 – Bay Area eats

I’m not sure if Jenn from Peas and Crayons will be doing a regular WIAW as last we read, she was hoping to go into labour. Hope she’s welcomed her little one into this world!

As I mentioned last week, I was quite busy with work in the Bay area. I didn’t get any time to go sightseeing, but I did get to pick three of the places I went to dinner. I was craving Maggiano’s but decided to explore what California had to offer. I took  a few photos of some of the items I ate. Please forgive the bad quality in the photos.

I got into SFO Sunday evening. After picking up the rental, I headed to the hotel, and then I went to Target to get some of the things I forgot at home. I spotted El Pollo Loco in the same plaza as Target; I couldn’t believe I’d forgotten all about it!! After checking out their website to see if they had any GF items, I went through the Drive-Thru before heading back to the hotel.

The hotel had free breakfast, so I went to check it out the next morning. I was expecting it to be all carbs, and I was pleasantly surprised when they had eggs and yogurt. I grabbed what I could and had pretty much the same thing every morning: juice, eggs, yogurt, and fruit.

The first day in the “office,” we got to order our lunch from Mondo Burritos, and I got a Chicken “Mondo No Wrappo.”

In the evening, I looked for a place that would take American Express and had gluten-free options. I ended up at Tony and Alba’s and got the Agli Olio pasta. It was expecting the tomatoes to be a little more “sun-dried” and not so fresh, but it was good otherwise.

On Tuesday night, I ended up at Pacific Catch. I had some ceviche with GF chips and the Chipotle Mahi Salad. The ceviche was a little on the spicy side, and the salad was great.

 On Wednesday night, we went to Piatti, and I had the grilled king salmon; it was excellent!

On Friday, we went to lunch before my flight back home; we went to Jersey Mike’s Subs where I had a bun-less sub (a.k.a. a salad). It wasn’t bad, but I wished they’d had some GF bread. Can’t win them all!

Although the trip was a successful one, I was so glad to be home :)
